Welcome to the Ruthven House website where you will discover your perfect highland getaway. Ruthven House provides excellent bed and breakfast accommodation or if you prefer something more private and secluded, we have two cosy cottages with their own private driveway.
+Ruthven House is set in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park beside Ruthven Barracks and the RSPB Insh Marshes Reserve in Highland Scotland, recently voted one of the top twenty places in the world to visit by the National Geographic Traveller Magazine. The town of Kingussie is a leisurely 15 minute walk away and lies 12 miles south of Aviemore. Kingussie train station has direct links to Perth, Edinburgh, Glasgow and the sleeper service to London. For the weary traveller we can arrange for you to be collected from the train station.
We offer guests 4 Star Bed and Breakfast accommodation in the main house and also have two cosy Self Catering Cottages, (Creag Bheag and Creag Dhubh, carefully converted from a former steading) with their own private parking and a large lawned garden to the front. Each cottage has patio doors leading out to a private seating area.
The cottages are normally available on a weekly let but we do from time to time offer shorter stays. Please just call us to check availability and pricing. We also offer a three night Valentine's break which includes chocolates and a bottle of bubbly, and a 3 or 4 night Easter break, please just contact us for details. Ruthven House and Holiday Cottages are strictly no smoking and sorry, but we do not accept pets. Internet access is available.
Ruthven House is the ideal base for a multitude of outdoor activities including ski-ing at the Cairngorms, hillwalking, fishing, horse riding and cycling. Wildlife is in abundance, with eagles, buzzards, owls, woodpeckers, deer and pine martins all having been spotted in our grounds. We have some outstanding walks literally on our doorstep!! Fishing in this area is superb; please see our Gallery Section for the picture of a brown trout caught in the River Spey, just a 5 minute walk from the house in early May 2011. We can arrange fishing permits for you at a cost of just £30 per week. See our Out and About page for nearby activities information.
There are many very good eateries in the area and should you decide to stay with us, we are sure you will have a fabulous time. In the meantime, should you require any further information please do just get in touch.
